In this general course, participants will learn about three types of dementia: dementia with Lewy bodies, vascular dementia, and frontotemporal dementia. For each dementia, participants will learn about causes, risk factors, characteristics, symptomology, treatment and how to cope.
When people think of dementia, many times the first thing that comes to mind is Alzheimer’s disease. In this general course, participants will learn about other types of dementia-related illnesses, including dementia with Lewy bodies, vascular dementia, and frontotemporal dementia. For each dementia, participants will learn about causes, risk factors, characteristics, symptomology, treatment and how to cope. Lastly, learn how best to support families and respond appropriately to symptoms such as loss of empathy, compulsive behaviors, and anosognosia.
From this course you will learn to:

- Define important differences in diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and assessment of various types of dementia.
- Utilize strategies to cope with different types of dementia.
